Simply great
I love this app for two main reasons; the function and design. The functions are simple, and easy to use! I don't have to deal with a bunch of other who-knows-what to track my period. It doesn't even require lots of (if any) personal data. Also, I'm not super girly, and this is the only app that doesn't go crazy on the pink and femininity. Not saying girly-girls are bad, it's just not for me, and this app's simple design and customizable colors make me pleased.
Best Period Tracker for Teens
This period app is super customizable and easy to use. Other menstruation tracking apps primarily use colors like pink and purple, but I'm able to choose the color of my choice as my period color. Also, you're able to select what you want to track (tampons, pads, weight, mood, discharge, physical symptoms, etc). My mom also uses this app and likes to track her hot flashes for symptoms relating to her being in menopause. I can also get personalized graphs that show me what I've tracked relative to when I have my period (something I didn't find in other apps). Best of all, it's free and has no ads 🙂
Finally!
I haven't even opened the app yet and I'm already giving you five stars and want to thank you for developing a tracking app that seems to be the first and only that doesn't hint about me "falling in love" with it, doesn't assume I'm desperate to conceive, and doesn't even assume my gender! Not to mention it isn't pink, floral, or peppered with cartoons of pandas or babies or storks or flowers. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. *opened and took a gander and, hats off to you because cuz I actually AM in love! Simple, private and easy to use. Five stars for sure.
Why Track Your Menstrual Cycle?
Periods are personal. Odds are, your period doesn't last 5 days, and your cycle isn't 28 days long. By tracking your period, you'll learn a lot about your menstrual cycle and in the process discover things about yourself, like when you're most focused and ready to kick ass.
Know Your Flow
You're 30 and looking for patterns. Get to know your body by tracking menstruation and all the stuff associated with it, like discharge and basal body temperature.
Create a Habit
You're 13 and got your very first period. Woot! Practice regularly tracking your flow so you know when to expect it next. Don't be surprised; be in control.
Know Thyself
You're 50 and your period has become erratic: heavier, longer, or irregular. Track your menstrual cycle to determine if you're in perimenopause.
Be You
You're you and don't care for pink or want your period app to feel like a box of maxi pads or cartoon porn. Customize the colors and get to business.
Also...
Period is inclusive.
Period makes no assumptions about who you are or why you're tracking your period. That's not true for other apps.
-
The Atlantic - "'Self-knowledge through numbers' seems like a genderless goal, yet the actual products out there are anything but."
-
Vox - "Period-tracking apps are not conceived of as mass-market products but as niche products: 'shrink it and pink it,' the familiar guiding ethos of sportswear and basic household tools. They have odd design elements, like floating clouds, superfluous flowers, and strange faux-empowering language where straightforward medical terminology would more than suffice."
Maggie Delano - "We aren't just here to be skinny, have sex with men, and make babies. Yet somehow 'our' tracking apps seem to think otherwise."
Plus...
Period is private.
Period app collects no personally identifiable information, maintains no user accounts, and shares no data other than with Apple's Health app if you choose to connect the apps. (They are disconnected by default.)
Privacy makes Period app unique.
- Consumer Reports - "These apps are popular, but they raise concerns about what happens to the very personal data they collect."
Bloomberg - "None of the popular apps meant to track women’s periods has to meet the same reliability or privacy standards that medical professionals do."
Why Track If You Don't Bleed?
Sigh. Those of us who don't bleed have plenty of things to track that can help us know what's up. Bleeding is just one of dozens and dozens of things that you can track using Period app, such as hormones, sex, feelings, physical stuff, and pills.
Our Story
Period app was started by a product designer, who doesn't bleed but has teenagers who do. Dissatisfied with the heteronormative and fertility-focused options designed with specific people in mind, she decided to make one that didn't assume so much.
