Apple Health
Import period and related data into Period, and vice versa.
Connecting to Apple Health is a great way to get the most out of both apps.

Connect to Apple Health
To connect with Apple Health:
- Go to Settings.
- Find Apple Health and tap on "Not connected." (If it says "Connected," then you're already connected to Apple Health.)
- On the Apple Health screen, tap on the toggle to turn on "Connect to Apple Health." You'll be taken to Apple's Health Access settings.
- Either tap on "Turn All Categories On" or individually select the type of information you want to share. Then tap Allow in the upper right of the screen.
Connecting to Apple Health is not available for iPads.
Manage what gets shared
Apple Health controls what type of data is shared between Period and Apple Health. To manage the data that gets shared:
- Go to the Apple Health app.
- Tap on your picture (or the silhouette icon if there is no picture) in the upper right of the Summary screen.
- Tap on Apps under the Privacy section.
- Select Period.
There you can control the data that gets shared between the Apple Health and Period.
What to expect
There are important differences in the way Period and Apple Health name and treat data.
Period and Apple Health use different names for the same or similar thing. Below shows how entries are mapped between Period and Apple Health.

Note that iOS 13.6 or higher is required for sync with Apple's Symptoms entries. Acne is available on devices running iOS 14.0 or higher.
Apple Health does not use timestamps, but Period does. If you log a headache in Apple Health, it will appear in Period with the time 12:00 pm. You can update this time in Period or leave it as-is.
Apple Health also does not account for multiple entries in the same category. For example, if you log "Protected sex" and later in the day log "Unprotected sex," only "Sexual Activity: Protection Not Used" will appear in Apple Health.
Disconnect from Apple Health
The connection between Period and Apple Health is two-way. To disconnect entirely, follow the steps below to stop sharing from Period to Apple Health and to stop sharing from Apple Health to Period.
To stop sharing data from Period to Apple Health:
- Go to Settings.
- Find Apple Health and tap on "Connected."
- On the Apple Health screen, tap on the toggle to turn off "Connect to Apple Health."
To stop sharing data from Apple Health to Period:
- Go to Apple Health.
- Tap on your picture (or the silhouette icon if there is no picture) in the upper right.
- Tap on "Apps" under "Privacy."
- Tap on "Period."
- Either tap on "Turn All Categories Off" or individually select the type of information you want to stop sharing.
